Jesse Louis Cox (born May 18, 1981) is a Youtube personality whose channel is focused on gaming (more specifically, Let's Play). Originally nether the name of OMFGCata, it started out as a heart for comedic Let's Play videos and coverage of of the Globe of Warcraft Cataclysm beta. Since then, he has branched out into other games such as Minecraft and Terraria. Since the aqueduct was founded, several other members have joined the Jesse's adventures, including Pride (aka The Smoking Gamer), Blondie, the Co-Dependent Girls (Aevynne, Trish, and Chiib), Cloudcuckoolander Crendor and the regular builders of the Minecraft RPG Makers serial. While he does frequently collaborate with various people, he primarily focuses on single player games, with his comedic mode relying on portraying himself as his character'southward inner voice or an observing bystander.

A popular "miniseries" on his channel is the Scary Game Squad, where Jesse, Jirard, Davis, and Alex Faciane (and occasionally Crendor) play Horror games at various states of inebriation. The SGS crew has further spun off to create the Star Wars New Catechism Book Gild reviewing new comics, novels and movies, and speculating almost upcoming changes to the Expanded Universe. Another project he's helped launch since 2018 is Chilluminati, where Jesse, Alex Faciane, and MathasGames discuss and generally mock major conspiracy theories similar Conflicting abductions and the Hollow Moon Theory. Finally, Jesse has begun running an Bodily Play RPG stream on Twitch titled "Oddballs," with himself equally Game Master and fellow streamers Octopimp, Morgan Webb, Cinnamon Toast Ken, and Elspeth Eastman in a Stranger-Things esque, shenanigan filled adventure.

Commencement in 2019, Jesse's newest venture to exist teased: a video series titled The Gentleman's Hentai Club fabricated with cohost Michael Santell, where the 2 review... "videos" in a brew-up of Masterpiece Theatre and Mystery Scientific discipline Theater 3000. The serial is already on Flavour Two, and has itself generated a much more Safe-For-Work spinoff called The Admirer'southward Gaming Society on YouTube.

Formerly a member of Polaris, and frequent collaborator with fellow members TotalBiscuit, Wowcrendor (with which he co-hosts a non-content pocast), and occasionally the Yogscast. As well, he has his own convention (CoxCon, which is held yearly in the United kingdom of great britain and northern ireland).

You can detect his YouTube aqueduct hither.

Tropes that utilize to Jesse Cox:

  • Accidental Debauchee: While explaining why he has pinkish sheets on his bed, ane of the reasons he gives is "so that [girls] don't suspect that I'm a sexual predator," which is immediately followed up with "WAIT NO- Expect, I- ...umm, ignore that. Ignore that."
  • Apologetic Attacker: Especially when he hits an enemy in the "crotchular area."
  • Arch-Enemy: Declares himself to be ane with Husky Starcraft, whom he interacted with for one of the commencement times on video in the second The Game Station podcast. Croaking'south reaction? He's cool with it.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: In many of his collaborations with others (especially with TotalBiscuit), he will get on his partner's fretfulness with his antics... only for them to end upward laughing too hard to tell him to close up.
  • Ascended Extra:
    • It took a few episodes before Thomas (aka Omzit, aka Cookie Monster) got a speaking office in the RPG Maker's Series.
    • Pride also started off as a guest host before joining the squad.
  • Ascended Fanboy: The graphic symbol Genji in Awesomenauts was voiced by Jesse, and the character'due south backstory is basically Jesse's Behemothic Space Butterfly Running Gag.
  • Asshole Victim: Jesse's attitude towards the kids in Fahrenheit's flashback sequence. He constantly calls them "Lilliputian asshole kids."
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!:
    • Combined with Jesse's Kleptomaniac Hero playing style causes quite a bit of lark. Brought up to 11 in his Skyrim Let'south Play, where Jesse insists on post-obit every fox he sees for no detail reason even though he acknowledges that they well-nigh e'er atomic number 82 him into trouble, specially the white ones.
    • This extends even to the way he speaks, since he has a big propensity toward random tangents. TotalBiscuit called Jesse's ability to derail conversations 2d to none.
  • Writer Entreatment: He (hopefully) jokes that tentacles is i of these for him.
  • Awesome McCoolname: DJ Jazzy Worm Jeff. Besides, Frankenstein Joe and his many album names.
  • Backronym: The "OMFG" in "OMFG Cata" originally stood for Original Media For Gamers, Cataclysm!, it was inverse after the Calamity Beta was concluded.
  • Berserk Button:
  • Black Comedy: Dead Necromorph Baby One-act in Jesse'due south Taking Care of Babies PSA.

"How many times in life are you lot going to hear someone say 'I'm gonna stomp this babe.'"

  • Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: Male person Version. The 6th Podcast has Jesse, TB and Simon Lane respectively, Badass Beards and all.
  • Broken Pedestal:
    • Square Enix was this for him. Later on Lightning Returns, he gave up all promise of them putting out a good Final Fantasy game from that point on until Final Fantasy Xv helped Rebuild the pedestal somewhat, and then Final Fantasy XIV, once he got into the expansion storylines particularly, rebuilt it entirely.
    • The new Pedestal that'due south been cleaved unfortunately is Jesse's first honey in MM Os; World of Warcraft, subsequently a bulk of questionable design and story decisions, frustration over retcons and forcing players to purchase books to keep up on the story, along with the many "straws the broke the camel'southward back" from Activision-Blizzard itself, Jesse has after nearly 14 years left WoW behind for Final Fantasy Fourteen, openly admitting he's taken a hard pass on Shadowlands in favor of XIV.
  • Buffy Speak: Jesse sometimes veers into this when he gets excited.

Jesse: Oh! Oh! That was like what'due south-his-face in that movie! Where he does the matter to the guy!... Troy, that'south the movie.

  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: During a section of The Stick of Truth which features, among other things, a piddling boy being abducted by aliens and rather forcefully anal probed

Jesse: For those of yous who've never seen South Park, this is probably horrifying. For me, this is season 1.

  • Catchphrase:
    • "X in yo' face up!" His hundredth episode special had an entire montage of occasions he'southward used it.
  • "Bad Dovahkiin!", when he turns his Skyrim character into an Anti-Hero.
  • "Savin' the twenty-four hour period the McPixel way!"
  • "Well that only happened..." subsequently something especially absurd, such every bit more than than a few McPixel puzzle solutions.
  • When using oft-utilize push button commands or hotkeys in a game:
    • "Aaaand...Q!!!"
    • "And E!!!"
  • "FALRAK IS A DOOB!" Shouted because that'southward how he heard the warcry of ane of the game'due south characters.
  • "Bwap!"- Used while shooting people with a sniper rifle in Far Cry 3 and BioShock Infinite, or the Force Gun in Dead Space 2
  • "Take that, Devil!" In response to the scenes demonstrating to the powers of BioShock Infinite
  • Chainmail Bikini: While trying to name a Fantasy/Adventure game, he settles on "Ladies in Tiny metal".

Jesse: *laughs* I imagine you know what I was going for at that place, but, like, their armor—*continues groovy up*

  • Chaotic Neutral: He invokes this past challenge he'due south this alignment when playing games that allows ambiguous moral choices, but Dodger disagrees, maxim he is direct out Chaotic Evil.
  • Burrow Gag: The end of every Saints Row: The Third video has Jesse and/or Crendor trying to rap (with varying levels of success). Similarily, everytime they got as well tense, they began to make upwards songs during Outlast.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: During his nineteenth episode of his Shadow Warrior Let'southward Play (aptly named "RAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!!!"), he became infuriated when the controls wouldn't piece of work correctly. What followed was an unapologetic flood of blasphemous and insulting the game.
  • Cuckoolander Commentator: Jesse's goofy personality tends to pigment him as this when he collaborates. Especially when he paired up with more than serious players like TotalBiscuit. It's inverted when he works with Wowcrendor, who while more deadpan, is more of a cloud cuckoolander than Jesse is. This fact gets lampshaded in a Co-Optional podcast episode when Jesse realizes that, when he's teamed with Crendor, he'south the TB of the duo.
  • Cultural Translation: In the fourth episode of TheGameStation Podcast, Jesse, and friends conclude that Canada either has ultra-fierce or super-stereotypically-squeamish versions of games.
  • Deadpan Snarker:
    • "Lizzie" (Derkeethus) is described in this way in the Skyrim playthrough, often keeping a direct face in the middle of Jesse's lightheaded antics and mentally retorting to Jesse'due south bad jokes. But he doesn't actually talk exterior of "personality".
    • Kiskae would similar to remember of himself as one, making subtle remarks in the chat for anyone with a keen centre during the "RPG Makers" videos and invoking the trope directly with a Shout-Out to this very page. But like Lizzie, he doesn't really talk, and it's difficult to communicate sarcasm through telepathy and texts.
  • Despair Event Horizon:
    • Invoked in his The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim LP when Meeko does a Heroic Sacrifice to save Jesse, which happened a few episodes after he is betrayed by Lizzie/Derkeethus. This causes Jesse to no longer care nearly helping the people of Skyrim and to join The Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves' Order. Naturally this is soon Played for Laughs.

      Jesse: Bad Dovakin!

    • On the Co-Optional Podcast, when his followers on Twitter were unfollowing him and following Dodger instead. As one person said: Jesse bankrupt.
  • Determinator:
    • Jesse's mission statement for his channel is that whenever he starts a new serial, he will see it through to completion, no matter how bad it gets (with the exception of Lightning Returns, run into below.) One example is when he striking a Game-Breaking Bug during the concluding battle of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which nigh caused him to stop the unabridged Let's Play right there. Eventually, nevertheless, he makes the annunciation beneath earlier and so working out a way to do it by irresolute resolutions multiple times during the last boss fight.

I give up on giving upward. I am a gamer. I cannot walk away from this stupid ass boss. Bug or no bug. I will win.

    • During his Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Let's Play Office four, Jesse mows downwardly swarms of Orcs attempting to impale a high level captain. He kills three other captains during the fight, and finally picks the primary captains wellness away (after about 30 minutes of trying everything else) past stealth attacking him from above iv times to finally impale him. Immediately afterward his victory yet another helm attacks him.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Most of his fails in Terraria can exist chalked up to this, particularly his attempts to electrocute TotalBiscuit, which usually either failed or got HIMSELF killed.
  • The Ditz: Jesse. It's bad when even "leading" the RPG Makers, people doubt his intelligence.

Omzit: When Jesse knows more than you, there's something wrong. [1]
    Jesse: Seriously.

  • Eagleland: In his Terraria Permit'due south Play with TotalBiscuit, Jesse infamously devolved into a bombthrowing Texan with Patriotic Fervor as he tried to take revenge on him.
  • Epic Fail:
    • In a few games, but more often than not throughout the Terraria serial.
      • For example, every time either TotalBiscuit or Jesse try to impale each other with bombs. They manage to spectacularly neglect and only impale themselves each and every time. It would aid if they realized that yous can't kill people in your own team with explosives, only yourself.
      • And finally, every episode of Terraria is called "Jesse is bad at _____"
    • The finale of Game Dev Tycoon takes this to a whole new level: He loses ALL of his money (roughly $5.5 billion) in about ii minutes.
  • Fantasy Counterpart Culture: The generic "Nordic/Viking" are in the RPG Makers that is meant to emulate... Nordic/Viking culture. With long houses, tribal line-fishing villages, and the similar.
  • Funny Background Upshot: We figured out where Laelette's head went after Jesse cut it off: Rolling into a lake during a serious mob uproar.
  • Fun with Acronyms: The "OMFG" in OMFGCata is explained as meaning "One Moderately Funny Gamer". He whole thing was after dubbed to exist short for Ane Moderately Funny Gamer Constantly Annoying Those Around.
  • Genre Savvy:
    • He has been commented by fans and friends alike that he has a knack of figuring out the plot twists of games far earlier the game itself reveals them. Almost as soon every bit he meets the resistance in Dishonored he predicts they will betray him. Guess what happens in Part 38.
    • In his Bioshock Space playthrough he is able to figure out the alternate universe themes of the game just by a few early moments of foreshadowing.
    • Displays a off-white amount of savvy throughout his play through of Outlast. In particular in Part 12, he declares, with off-white reason, that the side by side door will reveal the big twist. The door opens into an area unlike any other in the game and then far.
    • He and the Scary Game Squad take the all the mysteries of Until Dawn figured out before they go any of the bigger clues.
    • He sees through the Orgy of Testify framing Nathaniel as the Serial Killer in the Carnal Sins quest in The Witcher three by recognizing that it doesn't brand sense from a story perspective then is willing to talk to him despite communicable him torturing a prostitute in order to grab the real killer.
    • Guesses the plot twist with surprising accurateness before information technology happens in Doki Doki Literature Club!!
  • Helpless with Laughter: During his playthrough of Saints Row IV with Crendor, Jesse cracks up and so hard at the sight of Crendor's player character that he actually has to leave the room and spend at least thirty seconds shrieking with laughter. To the put things in perspective, Crendor's player character has brilliant blue skin, majestic dreadlocks, and his face up painted in the colors of the American flag. For practiced measure, a hysterical Jesse can exist heard exclaiming (between giggles), "Blueish Man! What happened to you, Bluish Man!?"
  • Subconscious Depths:
    • Jesse was a Theater and History major in college, and in fact used to teach history to troubled teenagers. If you lot were in uncertainty of his History Major, look here.

Dodger, quoting Jesse regarding the map in her room: "If there'south a country I can't detect on a map, it's probably because they've changed their name since I learned about information technology."

    • He has a plaque given to him by his former school district as being rated the best history teacher in it.
  • Hypocritical Humor:
    • He's mentioned random not gameplay-related tangents during Let'south Plays as being ane of his pet peeves, which TotalBiscuit reminds him half of their Terraria series is basically that.
    • Has a trend to cry "get wrecked, nerd!" while playing competitive games, notably Overwatch, while existence a geek who plays video games for a living.
  • Identical Stranger: A rare Existent Life example. It was discussed in the sixth podcast that Jesse and Simon Lane are eerily similar in looks.
  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming:
    • All of the Dishonored videos are titled with a "Dis-" prefix. It culminates in the finale - "DIS is the End". Averted, however, in the DLC, which has no such system. To be fair, by this point, Jesse has wearied every possibility of "Dis-" prefixes.
    • Every episode of Far Weep 3 is named afterwards an episode of Lost.
    • Every episode of his Let's Play series of Terraria with TotalBiscuit is subtitled "Jesse is bad at [X]".
  • I Don't Similar the Sound of That Place: Jesse plays with this in Diablo III, questioning why anyone would desire to live in a identify called the Fields of Misery.

Jesse as male parent: Come up on kids, we're moving to the Fields of Misery!
    As kids: Yay!!

  • Insistent Terminology:
    • He keeps calling Ghostz_eu 'Comrade Creeper' when his avatar is essentially a communist slime. Ghostz used to correct him earlier just at present has given up. He still refers to Lewis' avatar, the aforementioned but in a lab glaze, as "Dr. Slime", and upon the Refrigerator Logic being pointed out to him in an episode, information technology'due south become evident that he's continuing to do it to prompt aroused buttclenches from many of the viewers.
    • He likewise calls Derkeethus "Lizzie", due to his apperance.
  • Kleptomaniac Hero: Much to the butt-clenching of fans and friends akin (either for too much of this or too little), Jesse plays his characters this style. Meet his Allow's Play of Deus Ex: Homo Revolution, The Witcher 2, RAGE, Skyrim, Dishonored... actually, run across any playthrough with a looting organisation.
  • Large Ham: After all, he is CRIMNOX THE SORCERER! and SKY Helm MAXIMILLIAN VALENTINE! Helm OF THE Sky!. Betwixt those and dozens of other voices and personas, Jesse's theatrical acting training really shines through.
  • Homo of a K Voices: Jesse is actually a professional vocalisation actor (having around 4 notable vocalisation personas with the balance being a mashup from them or movie references).
  • Moment Killer: Whenever Dodger and Strippin have a beautiful moment, he tends to comment "GAAAAAAAYYYYY!"
  • National Stereotypes:
    • Numerous are played with. Especially prominent in the RPG Makers serial, where half the on-screen cast is from America and an increasing majority are from mainland Europe: they volition jibe on stereotypes, such every bit Omzit enervating that Jesse "give him his money" because of America'southward debt.
    • Jesse in return has an exaggerated "Durka durka"-type voice impression of Sweden, Holland, Finland, and fifty-fifty Germany and has besides included cocky-lampooning, such as Mike'south legendary ironic phrase "Trust u.s., we're Americans."
  • Neologism: Jesse has a habit of making upwards words then, when told that'due south not actually a give-and-take, he will normally respond "It is now!", optionally calculation a Trade Snark or telling people on the cyberspace to make it a thing.
  • Non-Indicative Name: While OMFGCata obviously stood for "OMFG + Cataclysm", the channel has since expanded into full general gaming content, with World of Warcraft content eventually fading out. Equally Jesse has posted on his FAQ on pinnacle of the channel box, OMFGCata stands solely for World of Warcraft in the same way that TotalHalibut is about fishing. It has now been extended to, as of the 2nd Game Station Podcast, "1 Moderately Funny Gamer Constantly Abrasive Those Around."
  • Older Than They Wait:
    • Jesse is, unbelievably enough, a human in his thirties who withal keeps in step with teenagers today on net fads. Lampshaded by TotalBiscuit, who, at the time of the lampshading, was 30 and still more mature than Jesse, in their Terraria Let's Play.
    • Further Lampshaded in the 6th Podcast, when Jesse comments that TB sounds like an onetime man reminiscing on the one-time days of online play, TB snarks that among he, Jesse and Simon Lane together, he's the youngest male there.
    • Jesse has started transcending into Manchild territory with the eighth podcast, when he showcased a video by Lucahjin that contained nil but testicle jokes, and TB starts questioning his maturity.

Tag Line: Jesse Cox, he's hip to the kids!

  • Merely Sane Homo: Jesse himself acts every bit this, surprisingly, when put together with Clint Hackleman from Myndflame, Chiib and Trish from Co-Dependent, and Crendor, although he occasionally slips back into his usual quirky self. Footage here and here cements it.
  • Orphaned Series: His Allow's Play of Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War screeched to a halt exactly ii missions before the cease of the game, with no explanation as to why.
    • This concluded upward being subverted, as almost a yr later he finally uploaded the concluding function in the series.
  • Parodies of Fire: In Episode 27 of his Dead Space 2 playthrough.
  • Patriotic Fervour: Briefly becomes a patriotic, bomb-throwing Texan in his Terraria series.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Invoked. Apparently the principal reason that TotalBiscuit puts up with Jesse is comedic relief, mainly in the latter's funny voices and tangents.
  • Rage Quit:
    • There is only one game that he considers to take ever truly quit, and that is Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy Thirteen. By the time the game footage cuts out to Jesse'southward caption, in which he spoils the game so don't go looking for it if you want to learn for yourself, as to why it is over he's completely furious. The terminal episode of the three part series is appropriately named "THEN WHAT'Southward THE F*$#ING POINT?!"
    • In dissimilarity, he was an absolute Determinator regarding Metal Gear Ascent: Revengeance. Followers of social media watched as he encountered a Game-Breaking Bug during the final boss and finally had to apply fixes during the battle to make it piece of work.
    • His playthrough of Pro Gamer Simulator ended with him constantly screaming "I DIDN'T Do Annihilation!! I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!!" over and over while storming out of the room due to his character having been banned, even though he didn't do anything against the rules. Which he did so loudly it as fifty-fifty picked upwards on Dodger'southward livestream in a completely dissimilar office.
  • Rated One thousand for Manly: the opening sequence for this series
  • Running Gag:
  • Meeuwes has diamonds on his neck, bitch. Seen generally in his Minecraft skin.
  • Omzit and his supposed diet of shark balls.
  • '"Oooh! My butthole is so clenched with anger!"' invoked
  • Jesse'due south and TotalBiscuit's ineptitude with explosives in their Terraria Allow'southward Play.
  • Jesse constantly falling to his decease in Terraria. Specially after TB got a Lucky Horseshoe that he had before promised to give to Jesse to forestall such occurances.
  • When he was doing videos of the Worgen starting zone in the ''World of Warcraft Calamity beta, any mention or meeting with Darius Crowley is accompanied by a clip of "MISTER CROOOOOOOOWWLEY" *bum bum bum* After on, in any number of different videos on a variety of games, Jesse would pause out a verbal "MISTER CROOOOOOOOWWLEY! BUM BUM BUM!" whenever the name "Crowley" makes an appearance.
  • "Oh, Garlic! I tin can use that for crafting!"
  • His playthrough of Expressionless Space had him jumping in fearfulness whenever the other two crew members contacted him, eventually driving him to scream "STOP DOING THAT!" at one of them when it happened for the umpteenth time.
  • In any number of long-form L Ps with some kind of mystery (EG Resident Evil 7, Doki Doki Literature Club), there may come a moment when Jesse develops a theory well-nigh what'south going on, and information technology'southward usually fairly authentic.
  • Screams Like a Little Daughter: Jesse in his Amnesia: The Dark Descent Permit's Play, starting at part xx.
  • Seinfeldian Conversation: Basically the whole Terraria series with TB, and a significant portion of the Saints Row series with Crendor. Ironically, Jesse claims these are his pet peeve when watching gameplay videos, since he thinks the game should be the focus instead of simply a background for whatever you feel like talking about.
  • Cocky-Deprecation: The sixth podcast (a.m.a. the one with Let'southward Play/Simon), Jesse wholeheartedly declares that that episode was his 'last day on the net', himself as 'the American Simon', and that [to Simon] "I'll never be better than you!!" Oh, come on, you know he's lying!
  • Serial Escalation: Jesse stated intent for his Skyrim Let's Play is to practise everything there is to do in Skyrim. His response to those who doubt him? Bowwow, please, I'm doing everything.
  • Shock and Awe: If there'due south a skill/spell in a game that lets y'all use lightning, most likely Jesse will exist using it. And he will say UNLIMITED! POWAAAAH!
  • Shout-Out: Mentions that Freddy, Jason, both Conflicting and Predator, and even the sharks that ate Samuel Fifty. Jackson in Deep Blue Bounding main can climb ladders when the Co-Dependent girls ask what monsters can in his Amnesia: The Dark Descent Let's Play, part 20.
  • Shown Their Work: Having been a history teacher in the past, Jesse knows quite a chip of American history while playing BioShock Infinite. He notes that the "Battle of Wounded Knee joint" was really a massacre of innocent families, and is able to name a keen bargain of presidents when he encounters the Patriot Heavy Hitters.
  • Sore Loser:
    • Jesse does not take defeat well. He has stated many times that the primary reason he refuses to play competitive games is because information technology stresses him beyond tolerable levels and that losing, especially in front end of an audition, makes him incredibly depressed.
    • This is in full display since he started regularly streaming Heroes of the Storm. Jesse gets intolerably mad at people to the betoken where he comes upward with very elaborate song threats confronting bad players on his team and has coined the term "ugly chimp baby" to represent these particular players.
  • SpaceX:
    • Used in the description for his Dead Infinite series, and occasionally used for some of the enemies in the game. The first game features "space babies" and "space butt" prominently, and the sequel adds "space raptors".
    • Permit's not forget the Series Mascot, the great Space Butterfly. May its wings flap eternally, as it dreams the world we live in.
  • Special Invitee:
    • In the "Heart of the Creeper" video, SlyFoxHound (from Machinima Realm) drops by to offering Jesse some communication on Minecraft. And also to accident up his shanty. Later, Sly pops in on an RPG Makers Minisode, only to get shot at by arrows as the coiffure test out their newly trapped puzzles.
    • The Yogscast did equally well for one episode, as well trying to give Jesse Minecraft advice.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Towards Felicia Solar day. Leads to a Funny Moment when they see on the 27th Game Station podcast.
  • Straight Man and Wise Guy: Jesse manages to exist both sides of this with dissimilar people — he plays the wise guy to TotalBiscuit's directly man, but also plays the direct human being to Crendor's wise guy. Lampshaded in the 17th podcast with all iii people mentioned above as guests.

TB (Inquiring about Jesse and Crendor'due south Saint'southward Row LP): Who gets to play the incompetent i and who gets to be the douchebag?
Jesse: Oh, oh! I'm you lot! I'm You!
    TB: Oh.
Jesse: I dunno how information technology happened, I became y'all!
TB: This is how the pyramid works...

  • Stupid Statement Dance Mix: EspantoMusic's "UFO Commander", which was made by splicing a bunch of vocalization clips from Jesse's Game Dev Tycoon playthrough and setting it to very tricky music.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: Tries to invoke this in his and TotalBiscuit's Terraria playthrough, in which he attracts the attending of a Wyvern and tries to make it impale TB. It doesn't work.
  • Survival Mantra: "I MURK! I DIE! I MURK AGAIN!!!" in this Heroes of the Storm video.
  • Have a Third Option:
    • Invoked brilliantly at the climax of Deus Ex: Homo Revolution'south The Missing Link DLC: When presented the final choice of diverting gas to save the scientist or the prisoners, Jesse reasons out that one could only shoot the gas-dispersal method subsequently wandering around brainstorming.
    • Not simply does he mention the trope in Wolfenstein: The New Order but it also goes horribly right as instead of saving one of two characters that carve up the games timeline he, along with the other soldiers, gets his face smashed into the metallic grate by the nazi robots resulting in a Non Standard Game Over
  • Tempting Fate:
  • That'south What She Said: Jesse does this regularly, but finds in a lot of cases the trope proper name doesn't work in context, leading him to coin the phrase "That'southward what he said about her!" every bit an alternative.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Pretty much defines Jesse'due south attitude to playing Dead Space. Later on the first big jump scare in the introduction movie.

OH SHIT! *Hysterical laughter* Ohhhh, fudge. *Laughs* Ohhh my god, are you kidding me? You guys suck, I hope you understand that.

  • Too Dumb to Live: In Amnesia: The Dark Descent office 22, Jesse tries to climb inside of and close the doors of an iron maiden. And then he tries to practice it again so that he could read the text that appears upon clicking on the thing usually. Not v minutes later, he tries to leap inside of a brass bull. Lampshaded by the Co-Dependent girls on both occasions.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In Totalbiscuit's Terraria playthrough, for the offset thirty-one episodes he is less advanced than TB, having a double leap in comparing to TB's grappling hook, no mana, and less awesome gear. Over the grade of the two lost episodes in between 31 and 32, Jesse gains forty mana points, an Orb of Light spell, and rocket boots and a lightsaber.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass:
    • After drinking fashion too much Irn-Bru! that was sent from a fan in the 39th The Game Station Podcast. #worsejesse
    • Besides during Dodger'southward 12 hour live-stream where Jesse declared war against Dodger. Which led to Crendor, Myndflame, TotalBiscuit, and Husky existence casualties of war. Completely Played for Laughs but some people took it too seriously.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Seeing the trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 sends him into 1 during TGS Podcast #39
  • The Uriah Gambit: Jesse attempts one of these in Part 34 of his Terraria Allow's Play, luring a Wyvern into combat in an effort to impale TotalBiscuit. This being Jesse, even so, information technology backfires, with the Wyvern murdering Jesse twice and wreaking havoc within the duo's base.
  • Verbal Tic: Has a few merely the most prominent is "And that'due south a thing"; other members of Polaris like TotalBiscuit and Dodger seem to accept picked it up from him.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds:
    • Jesse with TotalBiscuit. Even his video announcing him joining The Game Station mentioned how he hated TB.
    • Jesse has a 1-sided "love" of Trish. They are genuinely friends though, or so they say...
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Jesse. HATES. Sharks. According to him, it most probable comes from an incident very early on in his babyhood, one of the primeval memories he has in fact, where a bodyguard plunked him downward in forepart of a movie and then she could talk to her boyfriend or something. Said film was Jaws two. This theory was later on jossed by his mother, who said that for most of his childhood through his boyhood, sharks were his favorite brute. To this day, not even Jesse knows why he hates them and then much.
  • Your Mom: Subverted in the "Clint, Cox, and Crendor Play Diablo III" video.

    Crendor: Who're you talking to?
    Jesse: Your momma!
    Crendor: ...what'd she say?
Jesse: ...she'll exist home soon. She loves you.

"And as e'er...to be continued."
